International Day of Action for Georges Ibrahim Abdallah
International Day of Action for Georges Ibrahim Abdallah July 5th and 6th, 2013 Freedom for Georges Ibrahim Abdallah and all political prisoners worldwide!
Georges Ibrahim Abdallah is a Lebanese communist activist.
He was arrested in Lyon in 1984. In 1987 he was sentenced to life in prison. His official jail time has been over for 14 years. He has been fighting a bitter battle to be released since then. He has written nine release requests. Recently, a court judgement has given him hope, that he will be released. But the judgements have met resistance from various courts in France, because of growing international pressure from America and Israel. They expressed “serious concern, that he could return to the battlefield.”
Georges Ibrahim Abdallah fights alongside the Palestinian people!
He was originally accused of possessing falsified papers as well as weapons. They justify that he is still in jail after 29 years, because he is supposedly the founder of Fractions Armées Révolutionaires Libanaises (FARL) and had been involved in the planning of military actions – but above all else, because his will and his ideology still hasn't been broken!
Georges is only one example of the many revolutionary prisoners, who spend decades behind bars, because they have not been broken in their revolutionary identity and continue behaving like revolutionaries. This imprisonment is one of a series of systematic suppressions of leftist liberation movements worldwide.
The unbroken nature of these prisoners and the expression of their struggle, that resistance is not only necessary, but also possible, means they will not be freed from prison, where they could become part of the movement.
Let's show solidarity with Georges Ibrahim Abdallah and all the unbroken, revolutionary long term prisoners and fight alongside them for their freedom!
