CALL WORLD DAY OF SOLIDARITY WITH THE AL YARMOUK CAMP
For over a year the population of the Palestinian refugee camp in Damascus (Syria) experiences inhuman living condition because of the suffocating siege imposed by the regular forces (government).
Daily fighting between armed opposition against the Syrian regime, render the living conditions unbearable. Note that the continuation of the siege imposed on the camp, the emergence of forces who seek by any means to impose their domination on the camp in order to pull them into long term combat, has not only deprived the camp residents of the basic necessary food, medicines and medicinal equipment. It has in addition to impose prevented the opening of humanitarian corridors to meet urgent basic needs for saving lives al Yarmouk camp. This continues incessantly, while inhuman conditions worsen and its inhabitants suffer unbearably. These infinitely harsh conditions imposed on the inhabitants of the camp, Palestinian and Syrian alike, violate human rights and international conventions that require the protection of civilians during war. Daily hundreds of children face the risk of death because of the cutting off of drinking water, the total lack of food, medical care and medication. These conditions also cause serious diseases such as hepatitis and cancers withe elderly people. Cases of death due to hunger increase mercilessly. Because of this situation, we call on all political, Arab and international forces and civilian, humanitarian and social organizations, to proclaim January 25 World Day of Solidarity with the al Yarmouk Camp. As a responce to the initiative of the Secours Rouge Arabe (Arab Red Relief), we, Arab citizens of France call upon all democratic, humanitarian and revolutionary forces in the world, to fight and help the residents of Al Yarmouk, in calling for: -1 The lifting of the siege of the camp without conditions. -2 Terminate all armed aspects, including fighters in the camp, as well as its non-alignment vis- à-vis military struggles. -3 Opening a safe humanitarian passage to meet basic needs, food, medication and medicinal equipment. -4 Rapid forming of a Palestinian Committee, under auspices of the PLO, in order to control the situation on the field in the camp and ensure that all security conditions for civilians and their basic needs are met. Because of this terrible silence from the Arab world and the absence of a strong Palestinian voice capable of bringing the world to act (including the Palestinian left, the Popular Front and the Democratic Front) we have come to call the conscience of the world and declare our solidarity with the Palestinian and Syrian inhabitants of Yarmouk . We make this call so January 25 becomes a global day of solidarity with the cause of the camp and its inhabitants.
