Open assembly of anarchists and antiauthoritarians against high security prisons
We are an open assembly, composed by anarchists and antiauthoritarians against high security prisons, which takes action in Athens.
The assembly was created in order to fight against the new bill for the development of high security prisons.
Some of the main features of this bill are the following: The enforcement of status isolation of prisoners, not only those who resist but also the indiscipline prisoners, the substantial tightening of sentences, the fully abolition of exit-permits, the minimization of the communication, the tightening of the internal regulation and last but not least, the promotion and reward of the informers.
Until now, the assembly has organized twice 2-days action and counter information movements (banners, counter-information texts, etc.). The first of the 2-day’s action took place on the 21st and 22nd of March where imprisoned comrades intervened by phone. The second of the 2-day’s action took place on the 5th and 6th of April. On the first day of action, demonstrations took place outside prisons or at central points all over Greek cities.
On the second day, a nationwide call for demonstration took place outside Domokos prison complex, where the state plans to make a wing of high security prisons. At the same time and during all this period, the prisoners organized actions in most of the prisons around Greece.
Responding to the international call against high security prisons in Greece which you organize, we from our side call for action on the 19th of April.
Active solidarity, need for counter-information and exchange of political rationales it’s quite important to us. For this reason, we attach the English version of our text which we use for counter-information in our actions and the e-mail where you can contact us.
